I don't know why I want to post about our current schedule and at the same time I wonder why I haven't posted about past schedules in case I want to see what Graham did at the same age when we have another kiddo roll around (all though at this point, we have a while before that will happen :) ). Anyway, here is a sample of how our days go - if it's exactly on schedule and works just perfectly (hahahaha - yeah like that happens very often). I'm sure that writing this will jinx our schedule and we'll have a totally different one from tomorrow on, but this has been the jist for the last few weeks to a month:
Overview:
*Eating 4 bottles every 4 hours. In February it's been 2 ounces of frozen milk and 5-6 ounces of formula.
*Eating 3 meals a day - so between each bottle - which really means that this child is eating every 2 hours - OY!
*Naps 3 times a day - he generally goes down for a nap 2 hours after waking up from the last one - and our "routine" for that is reading a few books with the paci and then going in the crib with his bunny lovie blanket
*Baths are at night and pretty much part of the bed time routine
7:15-7:30am: Graham is awake and getting his first bottle of the day (8 oz)
8:30am: Breakfast of cereal and fruit. G normally eats 2 ounces of formula mixed with about 6 spoonfulls of oatmeal, and a small (2 oz) container of fruit
9:00am: Graham is ready for his first nap already after a book or two. I shower and get ready for the day when he's sleeping and sometimes I even get to respond to a few emails if he makes it past 45 min :)
10:00am (again, remember this is "perfect" naping times): Time to wake up and play!
11:30am: 2nd bottle is filled to 7 oz but he often only drinks about 5 oz - especially if we are out somewhere and he is distracted by anything and everything that he sees!
12:00ish: Book reading and Nap #2 - this nap is the one most likely to run past an hour. Normally, I'll check email and facebook during this time, try to grab a lunch, and clean up the mess of the kitchen that I've made. I check the mail, procrastinate doing laundry, and pick up some toys.
1:00-1:30pm: Lunch of veggies and fruits. He normally eats about 4 - 6 ounces of food. I try to give him veggies and then fruits. He loves to eat puffs or some sort of finger foods (although I've been cutting everything out to see if he's allergic to something, so no finger foods for him lately - just back to the basics).
2:00pm: Playtime - which usually means me sitting on the floor next to him because G screams the instant that I'm out of his line of vision. We're working on this slowly, but he's still a stinker about it at the moment :) Good tummy time happens with lots of grunts and groans around this time. But, G pretty much wants to stand all the time now. He finds my hands to pull up on and wants to hang out there while trying to figure out how to simultaneously hold on and get toys in his hands. I'm not very productive during this time and pretty much just sit and play with Graham if we're at home. There's not a big push to get laundry or dishes or anything else done (much to the dismay of my hubby), but I just enjoy playing with Graham and try to soak up this sweet time (probably to the dismay of G's cheeks which get dried out from my incessant kisses)
3:30pm: 3rd bottle (7 oz) - sometimes it lines up with him going down for a nap, which on these "perfect" 1-hour nap days, it does. So, he'll get a book read to him, the bottle, and then off to nap-land.
4:30pm: Up to play for a bit more - or (more likely) to catch up on playing if we've been out running an errand/meeting up with friends during the day
5:30pm: Dinner of about 4-6 ounces of more veggies and some fruit for dessert
6:45pm: Bath time! We're still using a plastic tub on the kitchen countertop to bathe him. He love love loves his baths and I know is going to love the pool this summer. By the end of the bath, it's normally debateable who is the most soaked between the bather and the bathee, but whatever. Then, we play Graham's favorite game when we're drying him off - I'll have to post a video on here - it cracks us up, but he goes crazy kicking and smiling when we flap the towel around after his bath. He loves to play peek-a-boo with it too. So funny, but we do it every night.
7:15-7:30: Bedtime. We read 2 or 3 more books with the lights turned low and the paci, then give Graham his 4th bottle (8oz) in the dark to put him to sleep. He normally drifts off - or is close to it - by the end of the bottle when we put him in the crib with his lovie for the night.
I go check on him and take his lovie away before I go to bed and that's the night. Although, let's be honest, it's not. I go in multiple times through the night for his "pacifier cries" still. He wakes up through the night but tosses and falls back asleep alot (I hear this because I'm a monitor stalker and apparently don't like sleep). However about 3 times a night, he'll wake up, not settle back in and start fussing. If I sneak in and pop the pacifier back in his mouth, his head immediately drops to the side and he falls back asleep. Teething is the exception to this, and then he's up at least 6 times a night - oy vey. Regardless, 12 hours of sleeping time and decent naps (for the most part) is pretty impressive, so I'm willing to deal with the paci cries until he can find it himself in the dark. I almost lost it about a month ago and was going to try to let him cry-it-out at night because he was waking up so much, when I noticed 2 new teeth popped through. And then he went back to his 2-3 quick wake-ups and I decided against it. I've decided that teething causes the more constant wake-ups and that we can deal with it for those blips and wait on the crying-it-out till he's just crying for companionship at night.
Ok, whew...that turned into a longer post than necessary (as usual), but I'm glad that I have this written down for now. Like I said, I'm sure it'll change tomorrow...
